A new round of thunderstorms with heavy downpours resulted in flooding throughout Fairfield County with a stretch of I-95 closed for a portion of the Thursday evening commute.

The closure occurred southbound between Exit 15 and Exit 16 in Norwalk. The northbound side in that area had one lane open.

The roadway reopened in both directions around 6 p.m. Shortly after, a vehicle stalled in the center lane, leading to new delays.

Flooding also led to the closure of a lane on the northbound Merritt Parkway between Route 120A/King St (Exit 27) and Round Hill Road (Exit 28) near the Port Chester/Greenwich border.

Flooding was also reported on southbound I-95 in Stamford between Harvard Avenue (Exit 6) and  Route 1 (Exit 5), with traffic backed up to Elm Street (Exit 8) at 5:30 p.m.

The Metro-North New Haven Line is experiencing delays of 15 to 20 minutes due to signal issues in the vicinity of Greens Farm and Southport.
